Emeralds, the birthstone of May, is a symbol of abundance and fertility.
Almost all emeralds have unique birthmarks that distinguish them as truly natural gemstones. The inclusions are not faults; they're minerals that were present in host rocks, such as carbonates or pyrite. The inclusions and fissures within an emerald are sometimes described as jardin (French for garden), because of their mossy appearance.
We enjoy the depth of color that inclusions give the stone, making each Emerald piece unique and one-of-one.
Care- Rated a 7.5-8 on the Mohs Hardness Scale, Emeralds are best cared for by cleaning with a damp soapy cloth. We advise against submerging Emeralds fully in water and to avoid harsh chemicals, such as acetone and alcohol, as this can remove oils from the stones. Also avoid drastic temperature changes and impact as these stones can crack.
